Nov 22 Documentation | Unplanned

Words: Thanksgiving Part II was at Grandma & Grandpa Anderson's. We took a big family photo (though this isn't everyone; a lot of people didn't come and a lot came after the photo was taken), which was a lot of fun. Jonas wanted to run away until Corbin got him to happily sing out, "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!" the whole time. We talked and played and ran for hours!

What you can take from this:
  • My husband Jake took this photo by sitting the camera on the porch and setting up the self-timer. He took a few that are better, but I like this one because he's in the photo too. It's a little hard to round everyone up, but big family photos are so awesome. Consider trying to take one the next time your family is all together.
  • To get everyone in the photo, we used a park-style bench. Some are sitting on the seats of the bench, some are on the table, and some are standing around it. You want to try to layer people upwards in large shots, otherwise you'll end up with too much white space at the top and bottom of the photo.
  • Jake took this photo because we wanted to get everyone in before some family members had to leave, but those harsh shadows would have been gone from the photos if we had waited a few hours. The light and time of day is very important.

This is my unplanned documentation for the day. This workshop is about documenting what matters to you, so I'm documenting what inspires me. If you get stuck, try documenting something from the Daily Doc | Nov 2012 handout. It has 30 prompts to use if you get stuck documenting. I'm tackling all the prompts month AND doing unplanned daily documentation.

If you documented today, post a link to it in the comments section!
