Nov 24 Documentation | Handout

Prompt: A house or building you love in your town.
Photo:
Kansas City Words: I love the Kansas City skyline. It's not on purpose, but whenever we're driving back home, there's an unofficial moment of silence to take in the beauty of downtown as we approach (especially at night). I love Kansas City's art, difference in textures, and gargantuan skyscrapers. They make me feel small. I remember looking at the city lustfully from the Kansas side of the river in high school, and I felt like the city was my escape then. I'm so grateful that I get to live here, in the middle of my happy place.

Here's what you can take from this:
  • I wrote the words for this prompt today, but I took the photo a few weeks ago. Don't feel like you have to use these prompts to document today. If they inspire you to document stories from the past or remind you of a photo you've already taken, go with it.
  • Instead of talking about a particular building, which is what I was initially going to do, I decided to widen the scope of the prompt and write about the meaning of my city's skyline to me. Don't be afraid to change the prompts to make them work for you: they're a jumping off point, after all.

This is my documentation from the Daily Doc | Nov 2012 handout. It has 30 prompts to use if you get stuck documenting. I'm tackling all of these this month AND doing unplanned daily documentation. I printed out the prompts (pages 2-4 of the handout) and I'm highlighting them to cross them off as I go. I'm not doing them in order; I'm using them as they make sense for me.
If you did documentation from the handout today, post a link to it in the comments section!
